On a cool Georgia winter day at the Smithsonian-affiliate Booth Western Art Museum, the latest addition to the contemporary gallery was revealed. This monumental PIXoils™ digital canvas triptych - Spirit Catcher - is a groundbreaking collaboration between artists Tom Gilleon, Marshall Monroe, and Hannah Monroe. The artwork is on loan from the collection of Howard and Anne Schutte, displayed for all visitors to the museum to enjoy.
The triptych has also been on display at Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West, as a part of Inner Light: The Art of Tom Gilleon.
Attendees to the Booth Museum enjoyed a special presentation on digital art by Marshall and Hannah Monroe, focusing on the elevated use of technology, the higher purpose of art, and how they approach PIXoils™ fine art with a “what would Rembrandt do?” perspective. The PIXoils™ team discussed their view of technology and digital art as a development of artistic tools that must be explored and charted - something that must be guided by artistic principles, not the other way around.
The presentation ended with a live demonstration of digital sketching and painting by Hannah Monroe, after which the attendees went upstairs to enjoy the full PIXoils™ digital art experience of Spirit Catcher. The hardwood floors of the contemporary gallery gave perfect reverberation to the immersive soundscape of the artwork, as attendees experienced the rich, dynamic visual elements.
